Can anybody recommend a quality read on engine and transmission builds?

I am looking to increase my knowledge base on options to modify my 3.0 engine. Not looking to do the rebuild myself but want to understand the process so I can carry on a real conversation on the recommendations of my engine builder. Can anybody recommend a good read that works through the various options on different camshafts, pistons, dual vs single plug, etc. A similar read on transmissions would be good as well. Thanks!

The Porsche Performance Handbook by Bruce Anderson covers it all.

+1 on the Bruce Anderson book.

On transmissions, have a look at http://porsche.wikidot.com/porsche-9...epair-tutorial for detailed rebuild advice and comments and have a look here http://blueskymotorsports.com/index....id=19&Itemid=6 for detailed information about various types of 915 transaxles and gear ratios etc

    Cheers,

The Bruce Anderson book covers a lot of mods, but the Wayne Dempsey book "How to Rebuild and Modify Porsche 911 Engines" I feel is a little more step-by-step. That book covers a CIS 2.7 liter, however. He does explain differences between years, but Bruce covers a lot more of the racing bits.

You could also order the Dr. Evil transmission rebuild DVD. Cheap and very good! Seem to remember approx 30$.
PM or email him here if this is of interest: http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...harles-City-VA

Uuups, sorry. You are probably only interested in 915 transmissions and Dr. Evil only covers 901. Hopefully of interest for someone else
