Have Any of the Scholars Made a List of Plated Parts?

This thread is being 'put out there' in case someone, or some group, has assembled a list of correct plated parts. In addition to this thread, I will start a second thread with an initial effort to create a list of the yellow-plated parts, for my '68. The other thread would be a work in progress of some nature.

As I've said many times, I love the deep and detailed knowledge of this community, so I am hopeful that, over time, someone has put together a correct list of the parts that were/are plated, and what color they were plated. I've done several searches, but I've never come up with such a thing. I also understand that there are some disagreements. I can work with that.

If someone has such a list, it would be GREAT to share it. I've dis-assembled a large chunk of my project, and I'd like to make large batches kin order to control the cost of plating.

I would expect that plating changed over the model years, and it would not surprise me to find honest disagreements from folks who are certain that their part is original. (I've been a 356 Registry member for decades and those discussions are common.)

    Please help if you can.

    Mike,

I made a comprehensive list as I disassembled my 69, where they original, I don't know for sure, but considering the condition of the car I would think so.

All bolts, gold zinc, as where all rods and connectors for carbs, brakes etc.

Washers were a mix of gold and clear.

Lock washers were natural finish, or standard cobalt, hard to tell as the are usually rusty beyond recognition.

Door strikers, latches etc are clear zinc, with gold hardware.

A number of the fasteners were later hand painted satin black ( hinges, fenders etc) on 69's and I would have assumed the 68 as the engine and trunk were painted black.

I hope that helps, if there is anything specific that you want a reference to, I can check my notes.
    Tony
