    2014 Auction Round Up - 911 Cars

    RM Auctions' Results

    Lot 8 - 1989 Carrera Speedster: $126,500

    Lot 26 - 1970 911E Targa: $176,000

    Lot 77 - 1970 911E Coupe: $71,500

    Lot 105 - 1973 911E Targa: $140,250

In typical RM fashion, they attracted the best and brightest from the Porsche fold.

    Gooding and Co. Auction Results

    Lot 17 - 1973 911E Targa: $92,400

    Lot 34 - 1968 911L Coupe: $143,000

    Lot 110 - 1972 911S Coupe: $165,000

    Lot 135 - 1965 911 Coupe: $269,500

The 1965 911, also, was a complete shocker. The "early" 911s are rare, but this was no "901" car. If anyone has an explanation, I'd love to hear it.

    Bonhams' Auction Results

    Lot 111 - 1977 911S Coupe: $88,000

    Lot 149 - 1965 911 Coupe "Barn Find": $116,600

    Lot 154 - 1967 911 Coupe: $115,500

The Gooding '65 coupe is totally in line when compared to the full on restoration cost by an independent shop doing a resto on the Lot 149 Bonham's car. The s/n's were quite close - both were 302xxx solex cars made in '65.

Rick, it was no turbo, only a very low mileage 2.7.

On this board a while ago was a real nice 74-77 911. I think "live from NY", bought it. It was half the price with low miles. Others on the thread thought why even buy such a nothing car? It still can't believe a 2.7 car did that kind of money.

Didn't Mecum just sell a '75 Carrera coupe for $17K? Would love to know that backstory.
