    Rear Trailing Arm bushings

Is it a sign these need replacing by an annoying suspension squeak from the back end?

Can anybody out there give me an estimate of how many hours this job is with a shop that knows how to do it? I read somewhere the engine needs to be dropped (leading to the opportunity to do other things of course ... the old slippery slope.) Thanks in advance,

Ha! I did this over the weekend on my '74. With the engine already out and the car in the air it only took me about 6 hours. So figure a competent shop could do it in half that... On early cars the engine/ trans does need to come out as the bolts remove to the inside. And then its just a matter of removing the brake calipers, parking brake hardware and probably 1/2 shafts. And putting it all back together and doing an alignment.

Mine were pretty much disintegrated but there was a little rubber holding things together. I did not notice any degradation in handling or noises. I think its a good "while you're in there" job but I don't know that I would endure the pain just for these bushings alone.
