First owner was the famous Stihl chainsaw company. On top of the Kardex is stated 'Ersatzkarosse' which means replaced body.

Wow. So it has a replacement body and replacement drivetrain. All in period of course, but interesting to me that they just didn't scrap it.

If you were close to the Porsche factory you would return the car for repairs. Replacement chassis were common. The car is still non adjustable shock towers so that was done early on. The engine and gear box was done in 68. This is why I bought the car. I felt with what had been done it had to have been raced. I ultimately found out it was.

Sounds like the car may have needed a better driver!

Sorry, one last question for Don and Michael on this car -- If Stihl was the original owner of this car, did they race (sponsor) it or use it as an executive car or ?

I thought posting a car here could be tough now I am re thinking that. BAT is a sxxt show. Talk about a bunch of left wing haters. Wish they would not post my cars. I think I will play on this side of the web Looks like the car is sold now. Thanks guys.

I'm not sure if BAT is left wing or Tea Party. It's just a rough crowd. They're especially tough on Porsche 911s. Ok - brutal might be a better word.

Good on ya, Don. Unfortunately, in recent months BaT has been occupied by an increasingly snarky crowd usually expected on Jalopnik.
In the past year nearly every Porsche featured ended up as troll bait for people who either hate them or just parrot uninformed opinion.
I've been a regular on Bring a Trailer since 2008, but don't post as much anymore... cogent discussion is often overwhelmed by BS.
