Cut Out on Door Panel for Door Pocket?

I would like to install the rear door pocket in my car as there are none at present (see picture). From some partial pictures I have seen on other threads I need to cut out the section of door panel where the pocket will sit under the door pull.

I am looking for pictures showing the door pocket either removed or pulled out so I can see where to cut the panel and how the edges are finished. Is the very bottom part of the panel cut out as well (along the bottom of the door)? I don't want to mess up my door panel by cutting out too much. Any help is appreciated. Also, how many screws are used to secure the retaining spring plate (3?).

Your really better off buying a door card from APPBIZ that has been die cut for the pockets.

Thanks Bob. What is the flat black edge around the door? I've removed my door panel and don't see anything like it, or is it part of the door panel?

Also wanted to know if the retaining spring plate is held on by 2 or 3 screws?

I may be wrong. I know the large hole on the right is for the bungee.

If you plan to reuse the handle shown in the first picture then I think you'll find the rear bracket that the bungee cord goes through has been cut off (or the handle is from a later car)….. so you'll either have to fab and weld on a new bracket or get another set of handles (I assume it's the same both sides).

I found the same on my 72E restoration from ex race car to road car

Here's a photo of the front edge of my drivers side door. You can see the paint forward of the door panel.

Thanks everyone. Is the black paint around the edge of the door a glossy or slight matt finish? Its obvious I will need to add this before I put the panel and door pocket back in place.

It's not glossy. I'm sure some the others that actually restore cars can get exact. Mine seems like satin
