The Porsche Museum car had just been at my upholsterer.
    It is vin 302503...
and yes it has red armrests, but! a leather interiour.
As far as I understand is the two tone for vinyl aka skaidur -
and the uni for leather interiour..
    can s.o. confirm this?

the leather is not as red in original
as on the pics.....the camera cannot handle the redtones..

br from bavaria, stay safe & healthy

The Porsche Museum hasn't always had a reputation for being the most careful to research original configurations. It isn't impossible that chassis # 302503 originally had black garnish rails and armrests.

Or, maybe chassis # 302503 was made differently to special order. The rear wiper was an uncommon option.

Somewhere along the line I found the Porsche Museum die-cast at a reasonable price. It doesn't compulsively follow the '65 Calendar Year/'66 Model Year configuration:

Weber Carbs instead of Solexes, The decals on the slam panel are supposed to have started in '67
Nice detail on the relay boxes on the left side wall though

'67 & later style heat exchangers (virtually every '65-'66 has been upgraded by now)
no sign of the Webasto heater's exhaust but I can't blame them

Instruments should have green letters and chrome bezels
    Window cranks should be chrome
Parking brake should be behind the gearshift

The right wiper blade shouldn't be parallel to the left wiper blade when they're parked

Ok, I'm nit picking. The only serious error is the parking brake ahead of the gearshift. Most of the other nits could be due to reusing elements of a later Porsche 911 die cast model. But it doesn't show a truly obsessive devotion to originality and "correctness."

Looks NICE. Probably wrong ! Porsche AG takes lots of "liberties." For years, this was a museum car. We know today, it is a fake, not doubt !

    Rear bumper side

I could not find this in this thread and wonder what is known about the rear bumper sides that get the dirt from the road?

It seems that initially there were no caps (correct? Up to what VIN?), then there came caps holding in place w two rivets and last same cap but w 3 rivets. All this w/i the first two years of production.

My car, 301382 didn't have any rear bumper end caps.

302535 [build date 25 October 1065] which was a recent Reserve not Met at Bring a Trailer https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-911-coupe-11/ has end caps. None of the photos make it easy to count rivets and 302535 has some "updates" like a later front bumper that could make one wonder if the end caps were added later.

By mid November of 65 two rivets were used. By May of 66 three rivets. The cap above was “originally” a 3 rivet but apparently used on a two rivet bumper. That is all I know.

The way the three rivets were held also changed somewhere in 66

I would be careful basing too much on the car on BAT as it has been updated quite a bit. I spent a few hours with the car about a year ago and have many detailed photos which I will see if I can dig out. But it had been worked on considerably by people not familiar with such an early car. The seller is the local Porsche dealer in Ottawa.

    # 301111 had none at first then were installed by the Dealer/Owner. These were hand drilled and put on originally with screws when they were first available (per owner). Notice the rubber that was used, 356 type.
