    Anybody else?
454330 is currently owned by a friend in the Pacific Northwest.
It retains the 4 screw grill fenders. My research indicates a completion date of early December '65.

American stereotypes hold that Bedfordshire--being in the UK--must be near to you. Should you go to visit, suggest to them that the athletes who compete in American Football are not "footballers" they are "football players."

Seems to be for sale in Monaco:

    Price: € 159.000

    Description:

We are glad to present this gorgeous Champagne Yellow 1965 911 2.0 Short Wheel Base. This car was delivered new to the US in April of 1965, it remained there for a few decades where it was owned by a famous baseball player of the time before being brought back to Europe by its then new owner following a "barn find".

The car came to Europe in 2016 where it was subject to a full "nuts and bolts" restoration by a known specialist. The car was stripped to its bare shell, every part and every screw were removed and restored. The matching engine and gearbox as well as the infamous Solex carburettors were fully rebuilt. Since the restoration completed the car has driven just over 7'000 km and has been serviced once a year.

This 911 is presented in a condition you would expect it to be after a full restoration, it is immaculate. Being a 1965 model (chassis 300828) this 911 is eligible for the Peter Auto 2L cup.

A complete restoration handbook, Kardex, original service book, original owner's manual as well as several registration documents and invoices accompany this beautiful 911 SWB. The car was also featured on the cover and in a 5 page article in the Porsche specialised magazine "Excellence" from the US.

The car is currently registered and located in Monaco with EU tax paid.

    Brett,
FWIW, my car 9/2/65 #302225 has the split aluminum wheel, #302226 had the solid wood wheel installed (at least when parked in the late 70's) if I recall.

If it helps?? My September 65/MY66 car has perforated backs. It is on the cusp of changeover (302136) and RHD so it may not be so relevant.

No, that is great information. Can you provide photos of that and/or other parts of the car? I have photos of a September 8 car with basketweave inserts, which did not have perforated backs. It is well over 100 numbers higher, which may or may not be relevant. Do you have the invoice date? if you want to send images, drop me a note to: 356drb@indy.net

These are all around the changeover time. I have photos of a 9/8/65 car with the aluminum one and a 9/22/65 car with the steel ones. What I will use in the book is September 1965 and not refer to chassis numbers, especially on final assembly pieces.

Would like get photos/information on cars built in October 1965.

Another data point for the symmetrical airfilter house, vin 300294 also has it.
Any idea up till what VIN the symmetrical AC was used?

I have an 11/11 car with latch panel decals and an early October car with a snorkel decal -- close enough. Thanks!

Want to double-check on my #302580 production date 11-2-65 regarding bumper guards. Would it have come with plain guards, i.e. no rubber protection pieces?

I’m fairly sure you are correct, no rubber on the bumper guards. My October 65 car doesn’t have the rubber.
