    Interior quarter panel fit

Hi all. I need a picture of how the interior rear quarter side panel cover finishes around the door slam to seal channel, I can't remember if the panel has the leather long so that it can be glued around or wether there is a small vinyl/leather strip that is glued around the rear of the door seal area and the quarter panel goes over it. A few helpful pictures will help me out before I recover my old ones. Thanks.

Maybe these 2 pics will help you from my 68 SWB. Tony at Autobahn did these panels and I installed them. You can see in the first pic that the weatherstrip has been pulled so excess material extending from the panel can be glued into the channel that the weatherstrip fits into. The end result is the weatherstrip fits into its' channel over the panel material. Glue the material into the channel stretching the material so you can eliminate any wrinkles. I used several office paper clamps to hold the material in place until the glue dried. Use a heat gun (careful) or steam to eliminate any remaining wrinkles. Trim any excess material with a razor blade. Once you're finished, then glue your weatherstrip in place over the material in the channel. The second picture will give you an idea of the finished look. Note the fold over of the material from the panel at the top/base of the B pillar where it wraps around. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the pictures. Mine is a 1971 E, I thought all early cars would be the same? Gsjohnson it looks like my thoughts are confirmed as in your first picture to the far right I can just see that the leather panel continues around the door frame and looks like its glued into and around the door seal groove. Any more pictures from owners will confirm this. Thanks.

That's why I asked what year, a 71 panel should tuck into a flange on the B pillar, not wrap around into the seal channel.

Now it's starting to make sense. The panels that were in the car before I did the restoration never looked good and never seemed to fit well. Is there any chance of some photos of that detail as this is what is missing on my car.

Here is a picture of my 71. There is a separate vinyl covered piece on the door jam and the panel tucks behind it.
