Is there a difference between the NOS gold letters for $40 each vs. the whole NOS P-O-R-S-C-H-E OEM set on Pelican for $54.75: http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...2531%2529%2520

Not trying to be an ass; however, I would just like to know why someone would pay $280 when it appears the same is available new, OEM for $55. Perhaps it's the quality??

Well if you are in need of only a couple of letters then you buy the whole set for $55 use what you need and sell off the extra's for $40 each, makes sense to me.

OK. I did some additional research. Seems the new OEM Porsche letters have a satin finish vs. the original shiny gold. I haven't compared the two side by side to see the difference though. These may be the original, no longer available, shiny gold letters. Which, unfortunately nowadays NOS NLA seems to be requiring some outrageous $$.

The PORSCHE lettering available from Pelican is indeed satin. I bought 2 sets over 5 years and sold both sets because I wasn't happy with them. I found a really nice older, shiny set on ebay for about $35 a few months ago.
