Answer is pretty easy... ask if it has heater tubes or not..... M 471/M491 option was first introduced 7/1970 so if its an earlier car.... it couldn´t have this options marked in Kardex, also weight discription of car in the original German Fahrzeugbrief shows the facts which kind of car it is!
I also have a 911 S with all lightweight options which was sold as a simplified car.....the factory marked not all 1970 ST as ST cars because of tax issues in some countrys and depending on what the teams bougth the cars for....I have seen cars being sold for 25.000DM and 6 weeks after selling repaired for 24.000DM as total damage repair which was overall 49.000DM as the regular cost of the car! But the 24.000DM could be written down by the tax directly through the company who bought the car... so 25.000DM for a race car was really cheap.... race it for 2 seasons and sell it for 35.000DM means profit......
Thatś like it happened many times with original factory built (ST) cars sold to private teams or racers who bought a race car... same to Portugal... Spain Italy.... where they had 30 % on luxury tax on high end cars so 25000,-- for car tax is 7.500,-- on 49000,- tax was 14.700,-..... what do you think what most did.... the bought the car as simplified + parts package or damage repair.... ;-)
They also had been clever in the past.... where money was also not so easy to earn.....

is this vehicle still in GB? Does anyone know the owner? It would be interesting to be able to talk to him and see the documentation he has regarding the vehicle!

When you say Factory Marked ST what do you mean?
