Question on Demonstrator Cars - Vorführwagen

Within the past year, I have received the Kardex for my car, which shows it was a Demonstration car and went to Glockler. I am missing the early years, and can't yet establish the story from late '67 - '70s.

What typically happened with these cars? My car is 68S, and ultimately came to the US from UK (best I can tell).

Any ideas from anyone greatly appreciated. Anyone out there have a demonstrator??

I have a Brumos demo. It was more like a Brumos executive car that was used as a demo. They put about three thousand miles on it then sold it to the first owner. I do not know if the car was specifically designated a demo from the factory. Fortunately I was able to trace the complete ownership trail from Brumos with firsthand accounts. 305992S

That's pretty interesting. So, they kept it for a while, it looks like - almost a year? Is that correct?

My '65 was owned by Bob Smith VW/Porsche, (Pete Smith) and used as a demonstrator for about a year and updated, then sold to a private party mid-'66.

Keep 'em coming. I was curious to know if the cars were not equipped with all the trimmings - like tool bags, spare tires, etc? I know I've read threads here about how the dealers "took liberties" with the goodies.

My car retained sport seats, outdoor temp gauge, extended hub steering wheel, three pt belts, toolkit etc. I'm 3rd owner and it has only clocked 61K miles.
