    FS: @eBay - New level of "crazy"? P 208 offered for $911?

Please know that I'm sensitive to things like honest mistakes and human tendencies to be incredulous, but I had to share this Ebay ad with the Early S community. I have no connection to the thread below:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/201037850988...witem=&vxp=mtr

My normal reaction to an ad like this is, "if he gets his price, a lot of guys just got richer."

I thought the community my want to keep a casual eye on this auction.

He is accepting offers tho... Mine is no where near asking. It's a silly add but there are at least two of us interested in that not so common tool...

Like I said originally, part of me would be happy if he got his price because a lot of other guys would benefit from realizing that kind of value.

There's no question that a nice P208 is good inventory with good demand, and I appreciate that people are interested in buying one (including me). Everyone gets to decide for themselves what an item is worth. It's just interesting to see how some folks think...or don't.

I just thought it was an interesting auction.

One of the reasons I don't like Ebay is exactly because of this ad. At the end of the Ebay process, there often isn't any valid market information. Good luck to the seller and the buyer, but my hope is that the seller agreed to an honest value offer from enthusiasts, like the members here. My preference is one of the Registries, except in rare cases.

I can't imagine what a SWB Spark Plug Wrench would get? I haven't seen one for sale in 2 years.

    More on P208 tools

I have acquired 3 P208 tools over the years for 3 toolkits. Oddly one of the tools that came with an early 911 has the P208 inscription on the "back side" whereas the other 2 have the label on the "business" side. Anyone seen this variance before? I doubt counterfeit as the tools are from way before this valuation craze.

And check Sierra Madre photo of a single P208 tool for a repo that has obvious differences from OEM for about $35
