FS: Threaded Non-Shift Pattern Knob '65-'66

This is a threaded shift knob that was used prior to March, 1967. It is same bakelite material and size as the one's with the shift pattern came off of a '65 912 and is in like new condition. Asking $150 delivered in the USA.

Cool '65-'66 knob, and free bump for a REALLY interesting and INFORMATIVE ad.

Including the resource material with the ad shows that the old plain/round shift knob was correct through March 21, 1967, which would mean that MY'67 cars came with the plain/round knob. The Johnson "Authenticity" book indicates that the shift pattern in the knob began in MY'68.

What is the origin of the copy of the text included with the ad? THAT REALLY A COOL PIECE OF PROVENANCE DOCUMENTATION. Do you have any more of that stuff?

    THANK YOU!!!

I'm guessing that comes from the Workshop manual...

I think this knob was used in 1966 through March 1967 on the 911. Cars made in 1965 have the "mushroom" head shift knob.

Hi Stephen, I had read in the "restorers guide to authenticity" that the mushroom head transitioned to the round head without shift pattern in early calendar year 1966. Like many of the changes in the early cars, there was really no cut-off date. Changes were more transitional as suppliers changed and the assembler grabbed what was available. You must have one of the last mushroom shifters.

Not sure of the origin of the piece, I found it on the PP site a couple of years ago when I was trying to remove a shift knob.
