Anyone know the best way to remove the plastic handle from a handbrake?

    thank you.

Heat it in boiling water for a couple minutes.

Slides right off but the handle will be ruined (turns white); I'm assuming you are replacing it.

Heat gun works also. Just did two of them. Get it hot and spin it off. It won't ruin the handle but I assume you'd be replacing it anyway.

Heat gun and a piece of wood with a U shaped slot made with hole the same ID of the steel. Heat it up put the wood behind the plastic handle and tap the wood with a hammer. Piece will come off undamaged. Are the new ones still stipple finished or are they polished smooth again?

The new ones from Porsche are stipple finished so if you want original look after the one being removed.

Be careful reinstalling... I got mine off nicely and then it split when I put it back together. Too much paint thickness I think. So now I have a new stippled one which doesn't look or feel right.
