'68L trans 901/74-trying to find info

that the matching trans is a 901/74.

The car id is # 11805386 and the 5 speed trans # is 9284109 and I'm told is a 901/74. 4 I'm told is the nurburgring option.
the coa showed several interesting options including a limited slip differential.
    the gears are B, HA,M,R and V [or Y] with a 904 main shaft.
    any insight would be great.

it should be a 901/54. The 928 prefix indicates a special ratio trans. The 4 coincides with the 4 in 54. The remainder are sequential. Gled

yes maybe it should be a 901/54 but it's stamped a 901/74 with an aluminum matching #'s trans.
maybe a special order that was made for someone back in the day? Seems unusual to have a limited slip with track gearing and options like a sunroof, ski rack and Stern Disks Wiper [rear window wiper?].

Steve a friend gave me this website: gboxweb.com, /74 is listed as airport gears with LSd available.

Transmission code 901/74 is not listed in Porsche manuals for model year 1968, but codes 901/75 through 901/79 are listed as 1969 transmission options. It's possible /74 was a late unlisted inclusion for 1968, without reference in standard manuals.

Yes, but... In 1969, the Nuerburgring box was 901/79, with numbers beginning at 7394001. Early in '69 production housings changed from aluminum to magnesium, and the mag Nuerburgring box became 901/84. But serial numbers remained in 7394000 range, beginning at 7394101. The same might have occurred in '68, with 901/74 beginning at 9284101.
