. . . Scarcely heavier than a Carrera RS 2.7 (1077kg vs 1075kg) and only 20bhp down (190 vs 210), a 911S 2.4 can still show a clean pair of heels to many a modern sportscar not to mention a Ferrari Dino 246. 1 of just 3,160 Coupes made, chassis 3300544 was built to left-hand drive specification and factory finished in Tangerine with Black upholstery. Supplied new to Italy on November 1st 1972, it migrated to Holland some twenty-five years later before coming to the UK in 2002. Entering the current ownership during December 2007, 'TGF 460L' has been enjoyed on two Classic Le Mans runs. Entrusted to independent Ferrari and Porsche specialists R&D Automotive of Eccles in January 2012, the Coupe was treated to a 'glass out' respray and engine overhaul utilising new old stock Mahle pistons and liners. Further benefiting from attention to its gear linkages and new back tyres, the 911S 2.4 is described by the vendor as being in "very good" condition with regard to its engine, gearbox, interior trim, bodywork and paintwork. Pleasingly retaining its original powerplant, the Porsche also sports an 'Autofficina De Marchi' rear window sticker and 'Early 911S Registry' badge. Just as much of a motoring icon as Jaguar's E-type, interest in the 911 is likely to increase even further once Porsche announces its plans for the model's 50th anniversary celebrations. Riding on correct-type Fuchs alloy wheels, this evocatively-hued sportscar is offered for sale with a fresh MOT certificate, current (free) road fund licence, extensive folder of receipts, Porsche Cars GB certificate, all its UK MOTs, old blue logbook, V5C Registration Document and sundry R&D Automotive restoration photographs . . .
