110 litre tank tyre strap ...help needed

I am seeking pictures of how the strap fits and the spare tyre sits if there is a 110 litre fule tank in situ

I am helping John G from NZ to develop one for sale and I want one for my 72ST project

We know it uses 3 brackets and the front bracket is offset to the left of the latch assembly (I have seen this in some RSR pics).

We think the strap is a bit offset to the left (as in the attached pic) so that the tyre can clear the washer bottle and attach to the front bracket.

Did the 110 litre tank always have the space saver or a STD 6" spare? In the RSR pic attached the hweel does not appear to fill oput the cut out in the tank giving me the impression it shoudl be a STD 6" rim in there.

Any advice, old or new pics would be very helpful please.

    Clyde,
Based on the photo above, even if you mounted the proper 6' inch spare, the strap would be even more to the top towards the filler cap. Looks like you need to extend the cross strap length to have more to pull down for the buckle.

Hi,strap is attached as per your photo, but found I had to make a bracket to hold space saver spare up onto the tank. The bracket stops spare from falling down into front panel. Can take photo of support bracket, if it helps.

    Dougie.

Yes thats what I noticed the tyre wants to "drop" and then push against the washer bottle

You seem to have the strap centred but the RSR pic shows the front bracket is attached to the left of the latch assempbly you can see the 2 bolts/screws in the pic.

Where did you mount the front bracket and pics of your tyre support would be good please.

The other straps i do are mounted in the front low down on the bump where the front slam panel meets the trunk floor , that way the trye is held by the leather part of the strap against the fuel tank and stops it sliding into the washer bottle .
If the leather strap is not long enough then i can make it longer . these are the details needed.

OK John will figure it out based on that

I would still like to know from people out there if there was a "factory" location point other than what I have seen on that original RSR pictured,
assuming that it is a factory installation.

here is a factory ST with a 110 litre tank and a full size tyre
looks like the bracket for the front part is mounted up on the inside of the slam panel to the RHS of the latch
i will see what others i have

However Given that the place the tyre sits on the tank, let alone in the car, is offset to the right i would expect the bracket to be best placed with the same offset - ie in line with the centre "bump" in the tank and probably with some height on the slam panel if a fullsize tyre is used or low to hold the wheel in place if a space saver is used.
Most ST's with spares would have been rally cars with no use for a space saver
Also on this picture the washer tank would probably be touched by the tyre but given where they are situated i suspect the strap would not be stopping the tyre going forward, and neither would the washer tank - it would be the front slam panel just right of the hood latch

here are a couple of other ST's with the straps. I think in both of these the bracket is riveted in underneath the top of the slam panel - you can see the rivets
