Looking for opinions on this mesh engine grille

Not the best picture but you can get the idea. Stainless steel mesh ~1/4" spacing, black would also be an option. Mounts with attached studs in stock locations.

I realize this is not everyones cup of tea but it is a well made piece. Opinions? If you like it, what do you think it should cost?

For an R Gruppe type car I love it! For me, I would pay $200-300 for if I was in the market for something like that.

Personally i prefer a finer mesh – also looks better on the inside on a SWB lid. Cost to make? About $20 max.

I prefer the one that KS posted. The original posting is just too shiny - and wrong. If you're going for the R Gruppe look the 2nd image is a lot more faithful to the period.

What color car are you thinking of for this, Brian? I'm thinking it would look nice in black on almost any color... providing whatever is under it is detailed and clean. The setup that Keith posted is very striking and well-done. Both would be great options if they are done 'right'.

It would look better powder coated in black.

Agree re doing it black. It is kind of shiny right now...although I prefer the one posted by KS, and prefer the price

I'd vote the trimmed mesh in a flat black powder coat or in a brushed steel (not shiny) look. My opinion might be that the 4 corner fasteners somehow get lost in that overt grid pattern with then also leaving unfinished looking 6 holes in the deck lid.
