    WTB: 1972 oil cap

Apparently they arent 3 slot like the everything else. mine has a crack in it. I'm currently using one off an old vw. I would like to put that back on my vw so I can drive it without switching them back and forth.

    Kris:

I have one that is NOS. It is not period - came from the dealer in the 90's I think. It is the correct yellow finish but has a little oil symbol stamped on it instead of the word "Oil" or "Oel".

I really don't know what it's worth, which is why I have not posted it FS. If you are interested, let me know and we can figure something out.

definitely am. Im not sure I need something NOS though in terms of shelling out some big bucks for an oil cap. That sounds correct w/ the little oil can on it vs the wording.

Here is a (crappy) pic of what I have along with what I believe is an original cap with "Oil" spelled out.

Excuse my ignorance, do the regular oil caps (i.e., all years) have the word 'oil' written on them?

    Kris:

Here are 2 original versions of the 72 oil caps. The green one is a ROW version as the car originally went to Belgium (9112101969). The yellow one is a US version with original stickers identifying this filler is for 'Oil' (9112100988). I don't know if the ROW versions had the small stickers as used in the US. You can buy a non 'Oil' version from your Porsche dealer.
