My headlight switch burnt while reving...

    All,

My headlight switch melt suddenly while I was driving - I replaced it with a brand new one - on idle the headlights were on and no smell, then while reving smell of burn again....
I wondered if a faulty regulator would cause this.
I checked the battery charge at idle and 1500rpm, battery charge seems ok (nearly 15v - it is a 3.2 alternator)
    Checked the fuse panel, ok
I noticed there is no relay.

    Any one faced this ?

    Cheers

Anything over 14v starts getting dicey.

90amp alternators have internal regulators. Try that right after you check all of your connections.

My wife opened the package and gasped.

"Who is THIS from?" still rings in my ears.

    Thanks for the memento!

H4s need a relay(s) or they will fry your H/L switch. The wiring gets too hot. Ask me how I know...
    I installed this kit:

That fixes the problem. Too bad that relays are "not correct" on these cars...
