If you want to know if paint is original - measure the thickness with a paint mic, no guess work needed, beautiful car GLWS

Phil a paint gauge shouldn't be used to determine original paint. I'm sure we all remember the seller who touted his car as original paint and he invited us all to run a paint gauge over it to prove it. It turned out the car had been repainted and the paint gauge proved nothing. It's a used car tool for detecting areas of thicker paint from prior body repairs. I call it a fools tool. Just my .02
what if the car was dipped and then repainted? its only really useful if someone one scuffed and sprayed a car.

My experience with a high quality ultrasonic gage was spot on. The theory is factory uses a thinner coat of paint than a body shop can spray, so even a bare metal re-spray will measure different than factory paint, maybe's it all BS I'm no expert. Sorry for crashing someone's for sale thread with this.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing. The fan on the car for sale should look like yours as Frank pointed out.
