Very ugly fan and housing... looks good!

72MFI and I have discussed our cars over the last few months. His wins in the paint department hands down. Bottom side? I'm ready to rumble in that arena.

BTW: This is not a hijacking as the thread was not posted by the seller. I think this is a great place to compare and discuss these low mileage cars. Amazing that all three are silver.
    Sorry for low quality photos.

No way is that underside original.

Brian, you know the drill on the tanks; EVEN IF (BIG if) the tank was perfect on the bottom (haven't seen one yet) it's difficult to salvage a tank that's been sitting with fuel in it for 20+ years. Rust, barnacles, and constant scaling usually make them a throw-away. Even if they are salvageable by sealing inside it still takes a cosmetic redo. Getting the texture and color right is the trick. Most people make the mistake of going too light on the grey. If you're going for proper patina'd "aged" look they have to be darker. Almost a green tint to them.

Interior looks great on the original car, but that is a square pattern headliner, not the original hex pattern.

yes, wrong headliner on original car.
Also, fan restored. As Frank Beck said, those look "ugly" if never touched and if low milage, with a yellowish film on the fan.
The silver paint looks too shiny for being 40 years old, but thats a long shot.
Ziebart, if still on the car it should be still visible on door and underbody. At least my unrestored T does show it.
BTW, for comparison, there is also the famous thread about a low milage silver 1970 911S w 2kish miles and still with sealed "Cosmoline" protection from overseas shipping, but cant find the link, though.

Still, a very nice car. T, E or S, the price gap is closing in.

Frank are you hogging another SWT in the background? see you soon.

Low miles original cars suck. All you can do is look at them. Great for pictures and research, not so great for having fun on a twisty road. I had a 60k original miles 72 sunroof for 3 years. Got tired of looking at it in the garage. Prolly now worth 3x what I got for it when I sold it but oh well. I never enjoyed that car.

Once these cars left new the factory - beside of interior and exterior- these cars were not "clean", later also patina came into play.

Why would you prefer the restored car?

I have heard about the 700 mile car. But I don't know the story of why it only had 700 miles.

Is there a thread on that?

    Thanks
