    FS: 1967 Porsche 911 – Vintage Race Car

    If you’re looking for an original short wheelbase, early 911 vintage racer that is numbers matching, street legal, vintage race car, rust-free, with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity (VIN:306478), then this is the car for you. Use as vintage race car, rally, or conversion back to full street.
    This 911 (Chassis # 306478) was purchased new on April 12, 1967 by the first owner from Vern Hagestad Motor Co. in Denver Colorado. I have the original sales receipt. The owner prior to me found the car on Coronado Island in about 2000 and converted the 911 to a vintage race car with minimal modifications made for safety. I acquired the 911 in 2005 and have been racing the 911 in west coast vintage racing events since. The car is occasionally driven on the street between races since it’s street legal. The car is professionally maintained by IPB Autosport in Sacramento. The car is very reliable, never any dnf’s. I race this car with CSRG and HMSA. Also, raced in the 2011 Rennsport at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway and in the 2013 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

    Specifications:
    Engine – Porsche, 6cyl., 1991cc (2.0 liter), original to car, entirely rebuilt as a 2 liter vintage racing engine in 2009 by IPB Autosport in Sacramento. This is a race engine, uses 100+ octane. Engine # 909757
    Weber carbs
    Front-mounted Oil Cooler
    Transmission – Porsche, 902, 5 speed, original
    Brakes – disc all, 911S
    Exhaust – Racing Headers and Phase 9 Exhaust System
    Wheels – 15X6 Fuchs, uses Yokahama Advan AO48 (205-60R15) or Hoosiers Vintage TD (5.50-15)
    Front Torsion Bars – 23mm, Rear Sway Bar – 19mm
    Fuel Cell, I/O Port 5# Halon fire system, 2013 Schroth 5-point harness, Bolt-in Roll Cage, Sparco Racing Seat, Original Passenger Seat in car.
    Exterior – All steel body; Cranberry (Originally Polo Red) w/ Silver Stripes. Paint is very shiny but not perfect, it’s a race car. No rust or accidents. There is a small bubble the size of a nickel below the rear window on the driver’s side.

    Delivered new on April 12, 1967 to Owen O’Meara of Denver, Colorado, this short-wheelbase 911 Coupe has led an interesting life. After being sold to an enthusiast in Coronado, California, the car was repainted from its original Polo Red to an unintended darker Cranberry. In 2001 it was acquired by its third owner, a noted Bay-area auto journalist and SCCA racer, as a retirement project. He stripped the interior and underside, made some minor rust repairs, and transformed the 911 into a vintage racer with a roll-bar, racing seat and harness, plastic door windows, fire system, and a fuel cell, adding silver stripes and rocker trim.

    In 2005 the 911 was sold to Steve Kupperman of Sacramento. The original engine was tired, so it was fully overhauled by a local dependent Porsche shop, which built the motor to 911 S-specification. It tested out at a very strong 208 wheel horsepower on a chassis dyno. The suspension was properly sorted, and Mr. Kupperman would enter his car in numerous west coast vintage events, including two PCA Rennsport Reunions at Laguna Seca. The car was sold to its current owner about seven years ago; it has been driven infrequently since but not raced.

    This car, with all original and undamaged panels, has always been registered for street use, but it would require proper updating for any future track work. The consignor states that the car received major attention a year ago, with a full brake overhaul including caliper restoration, new rotors and pads. There was also a valve adjustment, carburetor rebuild, new fuel lines, a new fuel tank, new shocks, and fresh fluids. The new tires are reported to have virtually no miles on them.

    Racing logbooks from several sanctioning bodies accompany this car, along with its original bill of sale, factory manuals, a dyno sheet, and an additional wood-rimmed Porsche steering wheel.
