Yes I bought it. Italian delivery, needs mechanical work but has lot of potential. Paint is mostly original. Needs correct 73 seats (has 74-80 installed)

Out of curiosity what is 278 and 280? Is the Porsche Museum or factory helping in anyway with these numbers and specs?

Salut Gabriel, I still have to cross check the list you sent me ... I hope I will be able to do that next week.

The figures refer to the progressive chassis numbers ... if you own one of these cars, you can ask for a Certificate of Authenticity to Porsche ... but sometimes they do not actually reflect the correct specs, for many reasons ...

Excuse me for wrongly asking. I as referring as to what car is 278? (Coupe, Targa, where was it delivered, etc) and also 280. I know about the CoAs (this is not my first classic Porsche) but I was wondering if going to the Porsche Museum will be able to get more specific data on my car... Grazie!

Hi again, this thread refers to the Coupe', i.e. 911230xxxx for MY 1972 and 911330xxxx for MY 1973. As far as the Porsche Museum is concerned, probably they can give you some additional info, if the car is of some historic relevance. As the Kardex system was discontinued a couple of years before, for 72/73 there is a sort of build sheet. I think Davep can provide you with additional details.

You asked about 9113300279, so the 278 and 280 would be the coupe series as your car is. I do understand your confusion since the use of only 3 final digits could mean coupe or Targa; it just takes some extra effort to figure out the context and hope that the person replying got it right. A full VIN does make it perfectly clear; and seachable also.
Data for a CoA-type of Report is available to me, and it generally contains more info than the CoA as was previously posted. For the RS models a Fahrzeug-Auftrag may be possible; also for some Turbo models. Very rarely a Kardex is available for 1970.

9113300677 is for sale and will be listed on Bring a Trailer in the next week or two, it has its matching number engine still installed and original trans casing included
The blue California plates 007 JSV are, to the best of my knowledge, the original number issued by DMV in 1973, they are photographer on the car in 1978
I will also post this in the For Sale section

    Niushork,
I previously owned 911 330 0278. It is a RHD UK delivered, sunroof coupe, with factory e-windows and originally Sporto transmission, but converted to 5 speed manual early in its life. Original paint Aubergine, fitted with leather sports seats.
Not currently on the road and hiding somewhere in New Zealand.
