    RSR engine mounting bar questions

I'm bumping this issue back into the light, to see if there is any consensus to what, exactly, a factory RSR engine mounting bar looked like. The last thread on this subject that I found here didn't have any real answers in it.

    I've seen three types:

A standard 911 part with 6 holes drilled/punched into each half (only one stiffening flange).
As above, with an additional flange welded onto the bottom.
A part with both flanges cut as part of the original piece of metal and bent on a brake or press; plus the 6 holes on each side.

Were all three versions used on a factory car at one time or another? Do they predominately resemble only one of the three types above?

I have one of these and I'm trying to figure out if it's an original part, a reproduction from years ago, or something altogether different (911SC/RS, etc.) All I know is that it's not something that was made recently.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

The real ones have 2 flanges pressed in...not welded.

I'm not sure about an old reproduction, but these are currently being reproduced and are welded.

Any guesses as to what this one might be?

Trying to press this shape without any cuts would need a huge amount of force and a very expensive piece of tooling.

If you make them with a brake press then you will need cut outs in the corners which will need to be welded.

Some will be welded more neatly than others.

We made some last year from a very high strength steel (Domex 700)

Surely they were always made this way.

    Hi,

We make quite a few of these and weld ours.

Yeah, I saw that thread. This one wasn't made by Rennline and there's not much info about the factory parts in the thread, either.

If you look at the standard 911 part, it was also welded, so I would assume all of the factory parts were made that way. When I mentioned that the additional flange was welded on some that I have seen, I meant that the entire additional flange was a separate piece, welded onto a stock bar.

Those of you that are making these reproductions; what is your selling price?
