I have just recently acquired this very rare and early Scheel 400 driver's left seat from approximately 1968 and to my horror, it is just not what I am looking for or expected in terms of feel...way too 'racy' for my liking. This is the very rare 'non-headrest' version with the chrome hinges. I also have the original seat runners but not shown. This is all original and never been restored. Even the black cord is in exceptional condition but very minor flaws on the vinyl. Some of the original screws are missing on the nicely chromed hinges but there's 2 holding it in place. I am yet to try and source where I can get them from but it has a similar head to the countersunk door hinge screws/bolts. It has incredible side support and the padding quite comfortable but as I said, too constricted and racy for my taste. I am therefore wondering if anyone has a cool vintage seat to 'swap' of the same vintage but if I'm not being overly ambitious, I love those Recaros with the adjustable side thumb screw turning knobs. Shipping is no problem as I can send this Scheel in a big flat box anywhere as the weight is still reasonable.
A big thank you to UAI here for all his expert knowledge and education on these seats! Thank you!
