I'm starting to install new door trim but couldn't tell exactly how the thin seal (the seal has a figure-8 sort of profile) underneath the vent/quarter window actually gets installed. from my old trim, it looks like there might be some type of sealant or adhesive holding it in place, but that also might just be the 50-yr-old rubber bonded to the metal! :-) (to be 100% clear, the trim piece I'm referring to is the anodized aluminum piece that clips into the exterior side of the door right underneath the window.)

so for anyone that's done this, is the seal just slid or pressed into the channel or is it held in place with adhesive? thanks for your help!
