May 31 2012 was a very, very good day! After not hearing the sound of the 2.4 for almost 9 years she came back to life yesterday! I got the call late the day before that she fired right up so upon completing the work I knew I had to get done I took the 30 mile trip to the shop. As I pulled up I could see her sitting on her wheels with her butt out of the door, the hood up and I could see she was running! Oh what a nice sound to hit me as I opened the door to the truck, Terry standing there grinning and saying she is a little rich but sounds good. Now since owning the car I had never heard it run with the MFI (I had it in a box) so that was a 1st, and with the revs set about 2500 for the break in the sound coming from the bay and exhaust was so freaking sweet!
Should be back on the road with in a couple weeks and I certainly cannot wait!
Just had to share the moment and a few more thoughts!

That 9 years ago when we parked the car there were several reasons why #1 was called a 15 year old male son who had just taken Mom's A6 Quattro out and was trying to power brake it around the neighbor hood at midnight, #2 was we knew she needed at least valve guides and probably a lot more, so the keys came out the cover went on and we walked away.
Fast forward to the present and the kids are grown and gone, sold the big house, no place to keep her, knew the car was special and that it deserved to be back on the road so we sent her off to get ready for the prom.
I had pretty much lost the passion and considered selling but after watching this board, being around the shops that worked on her, and HEARING that certain sound that only comes from these cars I can hardly wait to feel her under me.
So soon another rust free, number matching, early LWB NEBRASKA S will be back where she belongs on a nice road trip thru the Sand Hills, I might even take her up to see Kathleen in Burwell!
