How were rallye plaques mounted on hoods?

    Hi.
I really the classic looks of rally plaques (i.e., Rallye Monte Carlo) mounted on engine lids and front hoods and wondering how they were mounted back in the day? I'd like to replicate the look but and should use adhesives, rivets, or bolts? And does anyone have close up pictures of how they were mounted? Thanks in advance.
