    Service Offering: Vapor Blasting

    Service Offering: Vapor Blasting

After purchasing a vapor blasting machine for my own 911 restoration I would like to offer this service.

A definition of vapor blasting: Vapor Blasting is a non-aggressive process which only removes the dirt, contamination and corrosion products and not the surface material. The water component prevents abrasive particles from being embedded. Also the water is used to propel the abrasive media to the surface of the component but at the moment of impact, the water acts as a flushing agent to remove surface debris. This thin film of water reduces the degree of surface deformation allowing a delicate cleaning action.

The surface finish that vapor blasting produces is a nice smooth satin finish on aluminum and magnesium and a smooth brighter finish on steel, although steel will need to be treated as is will flash rust very quickly. The process can and will uncover surface corrosion if it is present, just something to be aware of.

This video offers a good overview of the process and the finish that can be expected.

Here are a few examples of parts I have done on my 911. If you are interested in the service please PM me and we can discuss your needs. The service generally costs about 75.00 per hour spent working with your parts. Thanks, Russell.
