    Engine Compartment Seal

I am ready to install the engine compartment seal on my '70E. The PET shows a two piece seal with the rear being a three sided seal and the front a single separate piece. The seal I got with my IMC seal kit is a single one piece seal and I see this same piece being offered by our other favorite suppliers. I also have a few original, used two piece seal sets in good condition and I am inclined to try one of those.

Any advice on the best seal for my application?

I only buy those from Porsche (like so many other pieces) The factory seal has molded corners, most aftermarket ones I've seen have the the correct profile but is just a straight seal, which will then bunch up when you try to make it go around corners. I can't picture how both front and rear seals could be all of one single piece.

    Thanks Ed.

I installed the OEM two piece seal with rounded corners today. Fit nicley and installed fairly easily.

This piece establishes the seal between the engine tin and the chassis. Without it, road grime will get into the engine compartment.

It also serves to seal the engine bay so the cooling fan draws the cooler air thru the grill.
