For Sale: my 1968 Porsche 911 2.0L, German market LHD short wheelbase early 'T' model. Sky blue exterior and light brown/tan leatherette interior. Production date: 18th December 1967, chassis number 11820482, engine number 2080533.
1968 introductory year for the T, this is a Euro market car with matching-numbers aluminium crankcase, complementary top-end engine upgrades, original twin weber IDT triple-choke carburettors, optioned with Fuchs 5.5 x 15" wheels, front fog lights, and original AM/FM radio.
This car was first registered in Germany, sold by dealers Hülpert & Co. out of Dortmund in the North Rhine-Westphalia region. It spent it's early life with it's first owner in Germany through the '70s, then was purchased by a new owner and exported to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1980, where it was repainted from it's original Bahama Yellow to the Sky Blue it wears now. The second owner maintained the car for 35 years from 1980 through to 2015, where it was purchased by an enthusiast in San Francisco who commenced some initial recommissioning work. In 2016 I purchased the car from San Francisco and imported it into the UK for a more thorough restoration.
The engine was rebuilt during it's time in Honolulu, and has been upgraded with Arius high compression pistons, 2.2L barrels and S-spec cams. A rear anti-roll bar has also been added. Carburettors, distributor, brake system and shift mechanism have been rebuilt. Fuel hoses, oil hoses, wheel bearings and suspension bushes have been replaced.
In 2016 significant metalwork restoration was undertaken including new, correctly backdated floorpan, lower sills and rear suspension mount repair. In 2017 the car underwent a full underfloor, interior, underbonnet and wheel arch bare metal strip and zinc phosphate anti-rust treatment, and body exterior re-paint in 2K epoxy primer plus 4 coats 2K PPG paint, colour-matched to the existing Sky-Blue paint colour. The interior was subsequently restored with new driver and passenger footboards, retrimmed headlining, insulation, door cards, quarter-panels and tan feintuft velour carpet set. Driver and passenger seats have been restored with replacement original wadding and trim, and refurbishment of the existing vinyl wherever possible, to maintain the old car patina. Hickok non-retracting front and rear seatbelts have been fitted and the car has new rubber seals all round: front and rear windows, outer door top trim, door 1/4 windows, main door seals, bonnet aperture, bumper seals and opening rear windows. Headlamp assys, front sidelight, tail light assys, heater system, driveshafts have also all been rebuilt and a new stainless-steel silencer has been fitted.
UK registration and first UK MOT was issed in April 2017 and it has been enjoyed on the road as my personal car ever since, now selling to make way for a new project. The car was a Porsche Club GB National Concours finalist in 2018, and comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, fully maintained MOT's and maintenance record, and original owner's handbook.
