NOS Hirschmann 4900 LS 14 in original box

    ***SOLD***

For sale is imho the second best option to provide your LWB with an antenna. In case there is no antenna mentioned on your Kardex/COA, it might even be the most logical choice. It can even be used on a SWB and on a 356. The head is the famous Auta 4195.

In terms of retractable manual antennas, Hirschmann recommended dealers to install, next to the factory used Auta 4000 C71L (110 cm), either:
    - the much smaller (headed) Auta 2400 LS 11 (105 cm) or Auta 2400 LS 14 (140 cm)
    - the Auta 4900 LS 14 (140 cm) or Auta 4900 LS 18 (180 cm)

The Auta 4900 LS 14 is in terms of head and length most comparable to the Auta 4000 C71L. The other 3 options deviate more.

    Hirschmann catalogue 1969/1970:

Someday, when I have a radio, I don't expect to really use it. Rarely, if any. So I don't think anyone would be able to tell the difference between the 140mm and 180mm versions when it is collapsed...

Not that I'd be willing to spend €750 + PP fee + shipping for my driver. But for some cars...

Excuse my ignorance... in this thread I’m seeing anywhere from 140mm (5.5”) to 180cm in length. (Almost 6’!)

Totally confused. (Does cold weather make a difference?)

    Just trying to learn.

If anyone else is able to prove a LS18 would be more correct than a LS14, this would be of great value to all of us.

The only documentation I have seen sofar, makes them at least equally valuable. In terms of length, the LS14 would even be the most logic choice.

This perfectly suitable and excellent NOS antenna is still available.
    Rare opportunity.

In 2019, Porsche Classic and the Porsche Museum have been contacted on the antenna matter.

We knew which antennas Hirschmann recommended, as that information is easily available in the subsequent catalogs. (See first post in this thread).

For the Porsche factory, there was only the Hirschmann Auta 4000 C71L for all longhoods as manual retractable antenna.
The Porsche factory did not use universal antennas, nor is there any trace of any recommendation related to it made to dealers or others.

However, many were dealer installed making many radios/antennas “original”. Which antenna was used (probably) depended on export-markets / customer wishes.

Based on the Hirschmann recommendations, if one could not obtain a Hirschmann C71L, the closest match among their universal retractable antennas would be this 4900 LS 14 for sale.
