cardboard? front fuse panel cover

Current cardboard cover is much thinner than the original ones. Or the old ones have absorbed so much moisture over 50 yrs..

Ya'know I did a right-up/post about making your own back in '06, and can't seem to find it.... maybe it's the broken link in post #3...

Anyway, I took my old acid eaten, chewed-up original and made a template/pattern. Found some thick cardboard (Bainbridge 5-ply I think). Cut it out, lightly scoured the back and seamed-bent it. Premiered it, and sprayed it flat silver.... It's what I have in the car today....

No idea for the best repro, I bought one via local Porsche shop. If you are interested I have two spare old original ones.

This is fantastic, it was bugging me to no end trying to figure this out! Couldn't even figure out if I needed therapy to get over it or because of it...

So, if I get it, a RoW 1972 would not have a charcoal canister?

I saw in one diagram a hose that I think connects to the nipple on the back of the engine tin that goes to ventilate the charcoal canister, was this actually used? Where did such a hose run through to get to the front (I never saw it in photos of the center tunnel).

I'm going to start by making one from Chuck's diagram (thanks!) while I figure out what to do. Maybe Cees will accept to part with the second example, for once shipping will be on this side of the world!

I did the same as Chuck, except I used thermoform plastic as used to make holsters, which I sourced at Tandy Leather. Painted it silver. Way more durable than the cardboard version.
