Bothers me that Bonhams doesn't clarify which engine is in the car, only that it is an "s" spec motor. With an engine case sitting in front of the car between the original seats, they need to mention the the case out of the car is the matching number motor. Also, they need to state the case number and what was done to the engine that's in the car. Is it an "S" spec 2.0S, 2.2S ,or a 2.4S. Also, the cheap looking aftermarket GTS "Lemans" seats in the car are a downgrade to me, and the "original" comfort seats being presented with the engine case look like 72-73 seats. No underside pic's, along with the cheap vinyl sewn dash cover are further reasons why I wouldn't consider bidding.

Porsche 911 E was introduced first time for the 1969 model year with a two liter engine to be the model between the S and the basic T. The E came from the mechanical fuel injection which was in German language ”Einspritzung”. The second generation 2,2 liter E engine was produced in 1970-1971 and it gave 155 bhp. In total there were 1088 911 E Coupe cars build in model year 1971
Matching numbers original specification 2,2 liter 911 E, confirmed by Porsche Certificate of Authentity. The car was delivered in 1971 in California. In February 1992 the car was imported to Japan where it spent over 20 years and was very little used. In November 2013 the car was sold to Germany and it came to Carrera Classic Collection in 2014.
This car is a very original example and it has never been renovated or it has never gone trough any major repairs before it come to us. Now the car has gone trough a full bare metal restoration in 2019-2020 to concourse condition. The car has the front spoiler and the black indicator lamp frames from the 1972 model 911 S. These small items from 1972 model year were very typical upgrades done to all the earlier cars.
This car has also complete and functional “Evaporative Emission System” complying with the new Californian environmental regulations at the time. It has also all the original approval stickers related to these Californian regulations which started the new era of emission regulations in the automotive world. Our green 911 E is really a “Green” car as it had one of the first systems to comply with these new environmental requirements.

It is mentioned on the text that it has newer one grills and signals, It is really fine car when seen on nature as are the rest of the cars in collection
We visited last summer on Carrera Classic at west coast of Finland with our small club members, the owner Mr. Itälehto with his crew show the collections and tell lot about the restoration process and how they do it. It is top quality work all and finishing in details is high level.

Built for the 1973 model year, this 911 E is finished in Gemini Blue Metallic over black leatherette interior. Well equipped from the factory, optional equipment included “S” instrumentation, forged alloy wheels, front and rear stabilizer bars, wheel well moldings, Becker Europa radio, and tinted glass. This attractive 911 has also been fitted with dealer-installed air-conditioning as well as sporty S brakes and front air dam. A previous owner carried out an engine rebuild, while under current ownership, the 911 has received a glass-out repaint, as well as a rebuild of the ultra-rare Sportomatic transmission. Copies of service and repair orders included with the sale indicate the 911 was serviced regularly under three previous owners in South Dakota. The consignor purchased the 911 E in 2008 with the intention of fixing a few cosmetics and adding the car to his stable of vintage Porsche automobiles.
This wonderful 911 E presents beautifully in Gemini Blue and is supplied with its owner’s manual, jack, spare tire, restoration and service invoices, and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Rare, desirable, and commonly regarded as the best of the 2.4-liter models for road use, this 911 E stands as a very desirable example coming from a fastidious home.

This 911 E Targa was ordered new by the consignor’s father, a prominent architect and urban planner from Mexico City, who had already owned several Porsches and had a collection of specialty automobiles. He purchased the 911 from Inter-Continental Motors Corporation of San Antonio, Texas in Light Ivory with Red leatherette and it arrived in December 1969. Just two options were selected, tinted glass and a Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio, although there was an error and it showed up with a Becker Mexico cassette radio instead. In January 1970, the Targa was shipped from San Antonio to the consignor’s home in Mexico City. The Targa remained in Mexico for the next 35 years until 2005, when the family relocated to Southern California and brought the car with them. At this time, they decided to freshen it with a repaint and the interior was partially refurbished by Thomas Interiors, which included new seat covers and attention to other areas. According to the consignor, the car’s mileage of under 17,000 is original, as is its engine.
This Porsche is sold with a file of original records, as well as a tool kit, jack, books, manuals, warranty card, and other Porsche delivery documents that accompanied the car when it was sold new. This is a rare opportunity to purchase an early 911 that has remained in original ownership for over five decades.

Auction Description:
We are pleased to present this exceptional 1970 Porsche 911E Targa finished in Conda Green over a black leatherette and Houndstooth interior. This example is reported to have been under the long-term ownership of a PCA member in the United States before being acquired by an individual in Mexico City. In 2018 during its time in Mexico, this Targa was fully disassembled and subjected to a complete bare-metal restoration over the course of 17 months and at a reported cost of $228k. Upon the completion of the restoration in January of 2020, this 911E was imported to San Antonio, Texas where it remained in the owner’s private facility before being acquired by the seller in September of 2020. A truly impeccable number’s matching example presented in a masterfully restored state, this 911E Targa is now being offered by its seller in California complete with original manuals, restoration documents, and historical records nearly dating back to the original purchase.
For collectors today, the Conda Green (222) finish on this example remains one of the most desirable shades of green of the long-hood era. It was offered on 911 models between the years 1970-1972. Beginning in February of 2018, this Targa was dissembled and stripped down to bare metal before being completely refinsihed in its factory original color. In addition to its iconic brushed silver Targa bar and wrapround rear glass, this 911E features painted Cibie fog lights added to the hood and genuine Fuchs wheels. The car is described to be in immaculate concours-condition.
Inside, the interior was reupholstered in its correct black vinyl material with Houndstooth fabric front seats inserts. The cabin is noted have been restored to like-new standards with all gauges and accessories working properly. The Certificate of Authenticity lists U.S Market Equipment and Tinted Glass All-Around, as well as a rear window wiper which is reported by the seller to have most likely been a typo. Approximately 23k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, of which only 25 are said to have been driven since the restoration.
As part of a complete mechanical overhaul, the 2.2 L flat-six engine (no. 6201193) was rebuilt and fitted with carburetors in place of the original fuel-injection system. Approximately 155 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a number’s matching type 911/01 5-speed manual gearbox (no. 6201193). The suspension, steering, and braking systems are also reported to have been totally restored during the restoration. After the seller’s purchase, this 911E was brought to James Millar for a complete service and inspection at a cost of $2,600. It was then delivered to Wayne Baker’s Personalized Autohaus for additional sorting and set up at a cost of $4,600, to ensure the highest level of operating standard for its next owner.
This sale will be accompanied by a set of two keys, original books and manuals, restoration documents, a clean title, historical records, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. With a total of $234k invested in this multi-year restoration, this Targa makes an ideal selection for any Porsche collector or concours enthusiast.
