Wow 19 years between posts. Dates are tricky. There is the Production date which is only recorded in production documents, although if you have a North American delivered vehicle with a compliance decal then the date on the decal should be the production month. Then there is the Invoice date when the factory billed the distributor for the car and the car was shipped; it is not really known if this date was when the car left the factory or delivered to the distributor or somewhere in between. Then there is the date of Delivery to the fist owner which was the date that warranty commenced, and very important to the factory. The Invoice date is the most commonly known and included on the Kardex or the CoA.
So the CoA is now gone and replaced by the PPS and the CTC; officially anyway. But I am still able to help.

thanks. yes, it's been 19 years between my 2 posts! (one I wasn't registered yet). I came across my own posting and thought of correcting it. Date of delivery from factory was April 1, 1973; However, delivery from importer (Swiss/AMAG) to dealer was April 12 and first registration to buyer (from dealer) was April 26. So, the car left the factory April 1st, so it seems.

Actually, I see a lot of CoA dates with the first of the month, but rare to see any other day of the month. That leads me to believe that the date is the Invoice date, but that the day of the month is either bogus or they did all of the billing on the one day per month. My personal belief is that it covered the month, and the first is bogus. Do you have a CoA or AMAG Wagenkarte; I would like the get images of both, and even the AMAG badge on the car.

yep, not bothered by the 1st, but that leads me to believe the prior month is the month of production. I have the AMAG Wagenkarte, no CoA , but multiple faxes from Porsche Netherlands and factory with info. No AMAG badge on the car (but the car was a mess when bought, so who knows what was on it? Although, glass seems to be original, but that's another quest).
