    Bob, did the patch actually work? Would seem a lot easier than replacing or re-veneering the entire piece.

    Hi John,
    the patches put wood back to support the radio body and correct the knob shafts hole placements then the top surface veneer covered the patches.

    If I had the talent - I would have made dutchman patches leveled to the original face surface (over the plywood patches) - then refinished.



    The 65 dash I did had the end broken off (a previous owner broke the wood off rather then removing the nuts behind the dash) so the repair with re-veneer looked like the best repair.

    The veneer required special care, the glue up of the curved ends and top and bottom tapered bevels needed shaped foam blocks clamped for even pressure.
