I use an old inner tube to cut a round piece of rubber the size of the badge so it does not rub/scratch the grille and avoid metal on metal noise.

    Thanks , checked that link….
Think that badge has larger openings than the old rally badges .
Decided to measure …..looks like the older badges have 3mm holes and will need about 25mm length for badge thickness and thu grille mesh plus room for oversized washer and lock nut .
Will post when materials ordered arrive and install
    Thanks for info

On a nicely finished grille, I've had issues with rubber leaving marks after many years. I've switched to using felt with an adhesive backing applied to the reverse of the badge and been very happy.

In my experience, this depends on the badge. Badge makers don't all use the same thread.

If you just want a couple pieces to try, shoot me your address in a PM and I'll send you enough felt for a couple badges.

Sounds like a good use for original trunk perlon pieces with a bunch of battery acid holes!
