At one time you could still get one through Porsche but, the decal will be black like the later cars and wording is different. Otherwise I think Carbone is making a good reproduction.

My new one is from CarBone. It's a pretty decent repro.

That is admirable work, Dave. Very cool. I am far from a historian with these cars, as I have only been around longhoods for a few years. During my restoration I also replaced my paint tag with a repro from Carbone. My original paint tag sequence was 114-9 1 , whereas my repro came showing 114-9-1. The difference is the second dash. It seems that the second dash is more common - curious as to why my original tag lacked the second dash?

Thanks, always happy to help. I cannot say why the dashes are sometimes dropped, but it is common enough. I suspect it is a worker issue; they just did not care enough to be perfect every time. The more I learn, the more little errors appear. Do you have a photo posted of the badge?

Here you go - not a great photo, but you can clearly see that the second dash is omitted.

+1 on decal restore, though certainly Porsche pricing. Interestingly, I spoke with them last winter and they advised the shelf life should be ~6 months max, hence I've held off ordering as my driver striker area turned out to be good enough not to need replacement. The passenger side...was swiss cheese.
