    Michelin TB15 ST tire pressures

I am trying to establish the most practical tyre pressure for front and rear ST cars for fast road use. I am running 7" front and 9" inch rear wheel size on my ST build. What tire pressures are other ST board members running in there Michelin TB15 tyres.?

Rather than experiment with pressures for fuel consumption and tire wear, i thought i would ask the fellow board members.

    Good question.
I am running 8"F/10"R /15 on my 3lt 930, with 28F/30R (psi) and after some spirited runs think the fronts @ 28psi are way too high and more than likely too wide.

    Dave,
Same set up as you. I am currently running 28psi front and 32psi rear. However, I have also tried 26 front and 30 rear which provides a better ride quality and better front end turn in. Still experimenting though.
No idea which will create greater wear resistance on the tires.

Dave & MRAR, the tire pressure information is very helpful. Dave, what tire sizes are your TB15s, please? I’m especially curious which tire size you’re using on the front 7” rims? I thought the 15/60-15 was no longer available, and that the 18/60 would be too wide.

    Best regards,

I have tried 24 on the fronts with 26 in the rears. These tyres are expensive and i am led to believe these are the best settings to prevent premature wear....especially on the Rears.

My ST now has about 13,500 miles on it since it was completed in Feb 2017. I have 8 & 9 x 15” Fuchs and am through with my second set of TB15’s. 18/60’s F and 23/62’s R. Wonderful, grippy tires and they look perfect on an ST IMO. For street driving (mostly weekend canyon runs and such) I inflate them to 28/30 F/R (cold) which seems to provide good balance between comfort and predictable handling. At the track (and depending on ambient outdoor temps) I’ll bump things down a bit to 24/28 and check pressures through the day. I figure if I’m getting 6,500-7,500 miles out of each set with consistent wear across the width of the tires my set up is pretty darn good. Oh…caution anyone driving behind you on a spirted drive that rocks will pepper their front end and a cracked windshield is possible, especially when the TB’s are new.

Thanks for the post Nick. Good to hear from someone that has got it finely tuned and getting even wear on the tire and wallet.

    Regards
