Nice post ! Yes , I want to live like Steve , but I'm a few dollars short .
He died in 1980 and the house was built in 88, so he probably lived in a previous version.

The McQueen connection is tenuous at best.
Someone found pics of his wife at the house next door, so maybe they owned both. I would assume Malibu in the 70's is not as pricey as now.

A '58 Fairlane convertible tow car might be a bit more attainable. For example: https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/ford/fairlane/2645601.html

I am confused how can this be Steve McQueen's home when he passed in 1980 and the home was built in 1988? I did some research and the build date in this article is wrong. The home was built in 1970 and Steve McQueen lived in the home a few years with then actress wife Ali MacGraw. Chad McQueen the son of Steve McQueen sold the home for 7.2 million in 2020. A few months later the home was sold to songwriter Ammar Malik and his wife Chyna Bardarson. I believe this couple is the one that did the remodeling. The home was sold again in 8/2021 for $12,114,000. Seems like this home was flipped many times since 2020. I would had liked to seen what this home looked like when Steve McQueen lived in it. Every site on the net lists the address as 31508 Vista Point Road not 31516 as this article states. Did Dwell do any research on this home? I found this on the net and this could had been what the front of the home looked like back in 1970

Could be the same house. With a good selection of vinyl from the 60's...
