I missed this one as been travelling overseas. I’m normally regularly at clubhouse so usually take my own photo of feature cars when passing but have to make do with one from social media. That says it’s the RHD M471 RS the was entered in the 1973 Targa Florio — same event where Muller and van Lennep won in an M491 factory martini livery race car. Both are 911.744 model.

Any genine RHD 73 Carrera RS is rare thing but vin 446 having participated in the last proper Targa Florio when new and being one of just 5 examples that left the factory in M471 Sport RHD configuration from the original first 500 series quota is noteworthy.

Link to a site with period photo of the car entered by Hedges/Marguiles in action — albeit wornhmybcaptoned RSR — I’ve no affiliation to any of the www posts but nice to see my club display an interesting RS nearly 50 years on from that event. I had suggested the club do something in May but this is near enough

Some fairly clear footage from 1973 but didn’t see this car maybe not a surprise as seemed to like the red prototypes that didn’t win and glimpses of the M491 including one that did.
