This 74C project has been somewhat interupted with the purchase of a 996 RSR/Cup car combination (the only thing Cup on the entire car is the look of the grill openings and deceptive narrow "looking" body). It was the Flying Lizard backup car at the 2004 Daytona 24. The team's Crew Chief later purchased the car and then decided I didn't have enough projects and should take it to see how much trouble I can cause with it. My most recent top priority has been to get the parts required to complete this car while they are still available. This "Cup" car combination was 10 seconds faster than any of the RSR's in the 2004 race, including the 04 RSR they entered and decided to withdraw after qualifying both and comparing the cars. Running an unrestricted RSR motor in a maxed out slippery narrow body light weight car (brought back to minimum weight with ballast) may have had something to do with the speed.

Here are some photo's of the 74 as it stands currently. The car still needs lots of assembly and to be lowered, aligned, corner balanced.

Dan at Acker Leather in San Francisco, CA did a great job on the dash, knee pad, door pockets and rear package tray. I went the leather dash route since the car was a radio delete and didn't have a mounted dash speaker anyway. Dan also replaced the headliner. Top quality work!

Curt -
When does the fabled whitepaper come out? As the new owner of a '74 Carrera Targe (USA) I'm looking forward to it. If you want to share a draft, I'll give you notes as to what I have found. Although it sounds like you are being very thorough!

How is this car coming along? Was enjoying following it over the summer.
Time to sell it?
