    Nudge Bar Advice

I came across a very nice nudge bar in my shop. They were a factory option for a number of years and I had one mounted on my '67 Rally build. I've never really liked the Amco bars but these are bitchin'. I can't find a picture of my car but here's a good picture of one on another car:

My question is whether this is an original or a reproduction. Someone in Nevada made reproductions for a number of years but he has passed away. I read something here many years ago that you can tell originals by the ends of the bar. Here's a picture of the one I have:

I'm going to list it for sale at the AC Shop and it would be nice to know if it's original or not. Although as I understand it the repops were very well done. This one does look like the deep German chrome to me.

    Thanks,
    John

I have an original nudge bar on my SWB 911 and love it.

Below is a thread that shows photos of Bob Chase’s repro nudge bars. The ends of the bar appear slightly different than the factory bars….the threaded portion appears to be recessed further in the bar.

This thread shows what a NOS nudge bar looks like….the ends of the bar are almost flush with the treaded portion.

John, I have an OG on my 72. Without taking it off I cannot answer your question other than the bar should have a black rubber 'boot' between where the bar attaches to the Bumper Guards.

The bar mounts on bumper guards without the rubber bits or with the shorter bumper bits off the front guards. The rubber gasket used is the same one used on the 356A front over-rider bar. I've just listed it at the AC Shop. If it is OEM, which I think it is, it's a great price. If it's a reproduction it's a fair price.

Thanks to all for your input.

    Cheers,
    John

Seems like a reasonable price at $525.00. There’s currently a NOS nudge bar for sale that’s still in the factory wrappings from a reputable vendor for $1,535.00.
