Strong prices for the most decorative items, but yes technical automobilia more contained…
i`m also a bit confused that memorabilia and and paper stuff sold so strong.still scratching my head..
but i guess that the ones registered to bid on cars simply raised there hands for x mas bric-a-brac kind of a by-catch.
also tend to thinking that vinod has chosen the right auction house--that attracted some extra biders that usually are not seen in the ladenburgs
nicola or ladenburg? i don`t have an answer ..follow and do bid on both venues but still not decided which one to choose for some items i have to let go.
I too was surprised by the strong prices. I thought with so much on offer, and time of year and uncertain economy, prices might be on the soft side. I had a list of about 15 items to bid on but only ended up with 3, and only 1 of those I thought I got a good deal on.
Sotheby's rep hinted to me that there may be a second memorabilia auction coming up as VR had multiple copies of many of the items that were on offer. But given the strong results, maybe he got all the money he needed for now.

I had very good experience with NI-Cola, great service.
Both auctions in Ladenburg are good and reliable (a shame they split). Think Ladenburg targets a very specific audience that loves automobilia. No doubt RM Sotheby’s has a far greater reach and access to a lot more buyers. They can also organize an auction in Houston or anywhere else and get the international audience to participate.
Got 2 posters I never had for the new garage. The other lots were too expensive.
Same here, got 2 posters I didn't have for office and one for garage. Everything else just went too high. I suspect you'll be happy with the posters...I just got back from picking the posters up, as I live in Houston. I could not believe how good of a condition all 3 were in...basically brand new, even though all actually around 60 years old. RM rep confirmed there will be another auction "in the future" for the remaining memorabilia.
Sad to see all the cars being loaded up into shiny transporters. But at least maybe a few will be put back on the road.

And the posters will go back on the walls as they should! Don’t get me wrong, the quality was really high, and the collection certainly quite complete…very impressive indeed… but a little patina from use doesn’t hurt!
