Wouldn’t say it’s the best music ever but hard to argue it’s not very apt content for an early 911 drive

Perhaps it should be adopted as the Early S theme tune![]()
Written by Phil Coulter whose RS is seen in pictureat bottom parked far right of the four 73 RS lineup taken ahead of the a mid 70s Circuit of Ireland Rally .
The song is about northern Irish driver Cathal Curley (the subject CB) who won the likes of Manx international , Circuit of Ireland, Donegal international around 73 /74

Cathal Brendon Curley ( hence CB) did this using his own privately bought RHD 73 Carrara RS M471 Sport. Cathal Curleys RHD RS is also featured far left in sane picture — it became known by Northern Irish plate AUI1500. A well known car that arose Phoenix like from a few usable remnants of crash roll fire etc in kyalami. But that’s another story.
The song was recorded by the Bay City Rollers of Scotland, a boy band that became a bit of a teeny pop sensation around that time with their trademark calf length wide trousers, tartan trimmings and sporting distinctive spikey haircuts. The look became a trend in some countries for a wee while.

Being about a well known rally winning 73 Carrera RS driver I’d be surprised if any song gets posted here whose subject is any more “on point” to to the Early S forum. Whatever you make of the track’s musical merits there is little doubt Phil Coulter was a very successful writer of pop tunes the earnings from which seemingly allowed him to indulge in rallying and buy an RS like his talented-driver pal CB!

A catchy pop track to bash out on a vintage 8 track player to channel the inner 1973 rally driver perhaps? Don’t suppose too many could keep up with CB in his RS so apt! Although CB did put his new RS on its roof in another rally in Ireland so don’t get too carried away around the Irish lanes like one contributor here once did to his 72S![]()
It features on this film about the 1974 circuit of Ireland win by Cathal Curley on the RSI’m no pop groupie but think that might be Phil Coulter congratulating CB on person at end of the footage?
