Thread: 2.2S carburetor specifications?

  1. #11
I hesitate to make recommendations for PMOs since they are not in my play pen. However, a 2.2 with Solex cams would like 32mm main venturis for best drive-ability but you could also use 34mm venturis for more upper RPM power but there would not be that much of a gain.

I think the preferred emulsion tube for PMOs is the F11, so my best guess for your application is:
    • 32mm main venturis
    • 130 main fuel jets
    • F11 emulsion tubes
    • 170 main air correction jets
    • 55 idle fuel jets
    • 110 idle air correction jets (These are tune-able on PMOs.)

What are the specs of your engine? All T but with Solex cams?
If so it’s over cam’d for the flow capability of a T head which stagnates air flow around .325” of lift and the solex cam lift is around .440”.

We have a similar low compression 2.2 T engine here but with E ports and reground T cams too E spec but we use Zenith carbs and the heads have no fancy valve seat work. The jetting is 147mains, 185 AC, 36mm chokes.
    165hp @6400 and 141lbs@4600.

It’s currently in for a refresh with .5mm overbore with Woessner pistons that I’ll cut to 9.5/1

    Thanks Paul!

Glaverbell, I have 2.2S Ps And Cs, S heads, modified case by Ollie’s, Carrera oil pump, PMO 40s, Bosch CDI and Dizzy, Pertronix Igniter, Bosch plugs, Beru wires and S Rotor. Down low you will find stainless SSi exhaust with stainless 70mm Dansk single outlet sport exhaust.

    Ok , so you have a Bosch distributor , but what is it ? a 2.0 normal , a 2.0S , a 2.2T , a 2.2 E or S .They are all different .

My understanding @richy is that a 2.2T dizzy is the same as a 2.2S. If not, how are they different?

    Hello zenith ,
A 2.2T distributor has a different advance curve than an S distributor , E distributors are the same except the rotor has a lower rpm limiter . What camshafts you are using ? you forgot to mention .

Hot solex cams, see my signature.

I went to 1.90 airs and WOT AFR is now 12 ish. Up from 10/11. I still get a small puff of black smoke on WOT but not as bad as before and I will do an autobahn trip soon.

I’m also budgeting for a 2.2S spec 123 Ignition with bluetooth..
