Is there a way to distinguish a replacement from an original?

I would assume that Repop says... " Made in China" on it somewhere... This one is original as it has been in my parts collection for over 20 years.
    Thanks

The repops I've seen have a smooth finish, which I believe is correct for '71.

Textured finish is correct for '72/73, I believe.

    This is a rare piece.

'71 has holes in-line, the '72-'73 covers have a skew. The mounting tabs are different. This isn't a correct cover for '71.
