Wide siderocker molding kit from suncoast parts and bumper guards

    Hi Everyone,

I need to replace the wide siderocker molding kit of my 2.2t from 1971 that is in the welding process. The original one are so much dented and scratched that I don't see myself fitting them on a freshly restored body.

I am looking for some feedback about Suncoast's kit. It seems that they are from Porsche Classics but not 100% sure and the price is USD 1195 for both sides ! (https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/PK901WICHR.html)

I also saw a kit from TMP on Pelicanparts at USD 150 per side. What is your feedback on these ? (https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...=c&SVSVSI=4236)

The price gap is huge. But I don't want to purchase parts that don't fit.

    Any other recommendation is welcome.

I will also need to replace the front and rear bumper guards. I read pretty bad feedbacks on repro parts. Is there however a source for quality replacement parts ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Phil

    My opinion…don’t like kits

The wide side molding parts are
    901 559 105 53 alum
    901 559 106 53 rubber
Porsche dealers show Porsche classics for alum trim $192 although original shows $581
Rubber varies but $77 as Porsche
End trim pieces are critical for fit with thin rubber seal - think must be Porsche parts to fit

Other bumper & related - Please review the condition of your original parts …bumper trim and guards
Reason being especially the bumper trim will fit properly the aluminum can be Re-polished and use new attachment studs
Although originally clear coated I have had not had any issue with just polished (by professional) the rubber edge trim varies all over the place from different mfg’s but should be the narrow version ( think Porsche may provide best version)
Original bumper guards -send out for rechrome …again the rubber trim for fitment probably Porsche best version
You can use Part#s to compare prices from a Porsche Dealers …typically less than parts vendors.
